Fees & payments
What does Truva cost?
Nothing to join. No subscription. No monthly fees. Truva takes a flat 15% commission only on completed jobs. If you don't work, you don't pay. Tips from customers go 100% to you — we never take a cut of those.
How and when do I get paid?
Direct deposit to your bank via Stripe Connect. Payouts typically land within 24 hours of marking a job complete, sometimes faster. The customer's payment is held by Truva from the moment they accept your bid, so you never chase payment.
Do I set my own rates?
Yes — always. You set your hourly rate when you join. Every bid you send has its own price tag that you decide. Truva never sets prices or tells you what to charge.
What happens with tips?
Customers can tip you after job completion through the app. 100% of every tip goes directly to you — Truva takes zero commission on tips.
Joining and requirements
Who can join Truva?
Licensed plumbers in our service area with current insurance who pass our background check. We verify all three before activating your account — this protects customers and keeps Truva trustworthy for everyone.
What documents do I need?
Plumbing license (state — or local journeyman if applicable), proof of liability insurance ($1M minimum recommended), and a driver's license for the background check. You upload these during onboarding — the whole process takes about 10 minutes.
How long does verification take?
Usually 1–3 business days. We check your license against the state board, validate your insurance certificate, and run the background check. You'll get an email the moment you're approved and can start accepting jobs.
Jobs and bidding
How do I get job requests?
Push notifications when a customer near you submits a request. You'll see the problem (with photos/video), the customer's location, and any details they shared. Tap to view, send a bid within 5 minutes, and the customer will reply if they accept.
Can I decline jobs?
Yes — any job, no penalty. Don't have time? Bid out of your area? Just don't send a bid. You'll never be punished for being selective. Truva is your tool, not your boss.
What if I'm busy and don't want notifications?
Toggle availability off in the app. You'll stop receiving requests instantly. Toggle it back on when you're free. You can also pause an in-progress job (e.g. "running to grab a part") without losing it.
What if the job ends up bigger than I bid?
Before the customer accepts, you can edit your bid as many times as you want. After they accept, the bid price is what they pay, so always bid with a buffer or include a clear scope. If you discover the issue on-site is bigger than expected, pause and message the customer to talk through next steps before doing the extra work.
What if a customer cancels?
Customers can cancel free up to 5 minutes after accepting your bid. After that window, a cancellation fee is charged to the customer and paid out to you.
Customers and disputes
What if there's a dispute about the price?
Truva mediates. We have the full record — the original bid, your messages, photos, timestamps, line items. In a clean dispute, we side with whoever the evidence supports. We don't charge plumbers for legitimate disputes.
What if a customer feels unsafe or is rude?
Leave. Your safety comes first, and you'll never be penalized for ending a job for safety reasons. Report the customer in the app. We review every report and may ban abusive customers.
Will customers leave reviews?
Yes. After job completion, customers can leave a star rating and a written review. Your rating builds your reputation and helps you stand out in the bidding pool. You can also rate customers — it helps the next plumber know what to expect.

What device do I need?
iPhone or Android. iOS 16 or later, or Android 10 or later. Truva works the same on both.
Where does Truva operate?

Does Truva guarantee a number of leads?
No — we won't promise something we can't control. Job volume depends on local demand and your hours of availability. What we will promise: no subscription fees, so there's no downside to being on the platform during slow stretches.
Can I take time off?
Absolutely. Just toggle off availability when you're on vacation, sick, or otherwise unavailable. No notice needed, no minimum hours.
